Lessons from Suicide Fatality Review and Survivor Support

Veterans and Service Members die by suicide at an alarming rate in the United States.

Suicide impacts families, workplaces, schools, and entire communities. While prevention is critical, what happens after a suicide death also matters. Effective postvention can support survivors, strengthen communities, and help prevent future tragedies.

Join Dallas Allen, Director of Postvention for the Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation, for a conversation about suicide fatality review and survivor support. Dallas leads Ohio's Suicide Fatality Review initiatives, supports LOSS Teams, and works with coroners, medical examiners, and community partners to improve postvention services across the state.

Drawing on his experience as the nation's first Suicide Investigations and Postvention Specialist within a medicolegal office, Dallas will discuss how information gathered after a suicide death can identify contributing factors, reveal opportunities for intervention, and improve systems of care. He will also share insights on supporting suicide loss survivors and strengthening connections between death investigation systems, prevention programs, and community-based support services.

This webinar will provide practical insights for professionals in suicide prevention, public health, behavioral health, death investigation, law enforcement, and community outreach who are interested in advancing both postvention and prevention efforts.

This webinar takes place from 12:00-1:00 PM EDT.
